In the picturesque Engadine, nestled between the mountains Piz Rosatsch and Piz Chalchagn, the Val Roseg meanders idyllically to the Roseg Glacier. Especially in winter this area is beautiful and offers hiking trails amidst great mountain scenery.

The path into Val Roseg can be found from Pontresina along the river ‘Ova da Roseg’ on well-marked hiking trails. Forests, bridges and watercourses alternate and after a good 2 hours you reach the ‘Hotel Restaurant Roseg Glacier‘. The path is relatively easy and flat, but has a steady gradient. With a little luck and good binoculars, you can also see ibex in the mountain slopes. For bird lovers there are several stations which provide bird food (a small donation is welcome). With a little patience and calm one can also feed the birds on your hand.

If you don’t want to take the path under your own feet, you can also take one of the smaller or larger carriages thru the valley – directly in front of the restaurant. The restaurant offers an ‘à la carte’ and self-service area. No matter where you eat, it is at least worth taking a look at the dessert buffet, because what is offered there makes the hearts of all gourmets beat faster.

For cross-country skiers the Val Roseg offers several cross-country trails and of course these also lead up to the restaurant. Maybe you are even faster on your cross-country skis after a piece of Engadine nut cake?
